About me

My name is Aleš Zvolánek (born June 5, 1990), and I come from eastern Bohemia. Since 2020, I have published my work under the trademark Calan Orlant. My work consists of drawings and literature.

I created this website to present some of my works that are being considered for publication and to avoid any misunderstandings arising from false interpretations of my work. I have pursued this activity intermittently since 2018.

I started drawing while attending primary school in Heřmanův Městec, but back then these were amateur attempts without any great ambition to devote myself more fully to the visual arts.  My greatest interest at the time was history—both national and world history—which my history teacher introduced me to. During this period, I also had to fulfill other work obligations in a village 4 km from here.

Over time, my drawing skills developed, so I began to devote myself to drawing more intensively and continued to improve largely as a self-taught artist. After my first promising drawings, I kept at it and continue to work on it.

Literary work takes the most time, so my portfolio consists mainly of varied excerpts, short stories, and fairy tales. I also publish some in Czech.  I am most inspired by simple, true human stories without any embellishment. It is a demanding intellectual activity that I carry out in Czech.

Traveling around the Czech Republic has become a lifelong interest of mine, so I decided to publish some of my best photos of interesting places, since many people, for various  reasons, do not have the opportunity to make such trips.

In the last column, you can follow the link to view my developing YouTube channel, which features interactive documentary topics with entertaining elements. Through interactive videos and Shorts, particularly for younger generations, I show the significance of Bohemia, Moravia, and Silesia and their traditions in the context of other European countries and beyond.

My work is created without AI.
